Territorial Acknowledgement

I humbly and respectfully acknowledge that the land in which I live, work and play is the traditional territory of ‎ the Neutral, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples and the treaties of this land include the Haldimand Treaty and Treaty 3.

As a White settler of European descent, it is imperative that I acknowledge that I have directly benefited from the mistreatment and forcible removal of Indigenous peoples from their land and homes. I engage in this work with humility and the utmost gratitude to our Indigenous neighbours, past, present and future. My work is centralized around talking about mental health and wellbeing, and there is no wellbeing without reconciliation and accountability. I understand that this land acknowledgement is only the first step in reconciliation. There is still so much work to be done in order to follow through on the Calls to Actions made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
