Individual Counselling

Everyone experiences times in their lives when things don’t work out the way we planned, our stress becomes overwhelming, we encounter issues in our life, or we lose someone or something that was important to us. Unfortunately, this is part of being human. Life can certainly be challenging, especially when there are expectations on us to bounce back and move on from these difficult times without the time, tools, and support to do so in a mentally and physically healthy way.

Individual counselling, also called psychotherapy or individual therapy, is a collaborative partnership between you and a trained mental health professional. It involves meeting, in-person or in a virtual setting, in a safe and confidential environment with a goal of discussing and resolving the challenges you’re experiencing, so you can get back to enjoying your life.

Some common reasons people seek out individual counselling includes, but is not limited to:

  • Depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and other challenges with mental health

  • Stress management

  • Anger management

  • Emotion regulation

  • Grief, bereavement, and loss

  • Low self-esteem and self-confidence

  • Relationship challenges

  • Parenting challenges

  • School/work challenges

  • Burnout

  • Loss of meaning or purpose
